Optical Target Alert System (OpTAS)

Overview
ProTech has been developing an electronic sensor system to perform high-speed algorithm computations on real-time, high resolution digital images.  A front-end sensor optically processes incoming spectral frequencies over a wide field of view where the resulting image is then digitized into a high resolution digital frame array of 2000 x 2000 pixels operating at a vertical refresh rate of 20 Hz.

Each video frame is processed using combinations of spatial and temporal algorithms necessary to extract critical 16-bit target information from extremely cluttered environmental backgrounds at data rates in excess of 160 Mb per second.  Final determination of valid targets statistically yields high probabilities for correct warning assessment.

Future Product Goals for OpTAS
Although the OpTAS platform was developed specifically for missile warning systems, future applications for this system are virtually boundless.  Using innovative engineering techniques in combination with the latest available technology has generated an ideal system for many high-speed digital processing applications while keeping size to a minimum.  In addition, the system lends itself well to applications beyond high speed digital processing such as system controls, telecommunications, sensor interfaces, and many more.
